Roman Pokorný Trio

Roman Pokorný Trio

Monday 30/10/2017 from 22:00

One of the best living Czech guitar players will play with his trio. His energetic music comes mainly from the jazz mainstream with blues roots: the hardbop, or soul jazz, that was popular in the 1950s and 1960s, but retains its magic, energy and grateful listeners. The sound and aesthetics of this style could be characterized by a list of famous albums: George Benson’s "Cook Book," Grant Green’s "Grantstand" or Kenny Burrell and Jimmy Smith’s "Blue Bash," to name a few – or, for that matter, the very latest from Pokorny's own "Brooklyn Session," which he recently filmed in New York with Pat Bianchi, Frank Basil and Byron Landham. To date Pokorný has released eight albums and is rightly ranked among the best that the Prague jazz scene has to offer.
