The Amplified Acoustic Band is a rootsy new band with blues, folk and soul influences and a sound as unique as their line-up. There is quite simply no other band like them in the Czech Republic. Based in Prague, they are fronted by acclaimed English songwriter, singer and outstanding guitar player Jamie Marshall, who is joined by three experienced and exceptional musicians, all well known on the Czech live music and studio scenes. Delivering an eclectic mix of Jamie‘s original songs and their signature arrangements of a broad range of covers, the band‘s distinctive sound comes not just from the voices of their two lead singers: Jamie himself and Svatka Hlávková Štěpánková (who also plays double bass), but also from their all-acoustic instrumentation. The Amplified Acoustic Band are a one-off: charismatic, individual, musically divergent and distinguished by their world-class vocals and instrumental excellence, they have an unparalleled ability to plug right into an audience and lead them on a magical musical journey (voc, g, g, b, perc).

8 pm – Duo Florian “Flo“ Kern & Adrian Krug (D) (blues – soul)

Florian "Flo" Kern even uses a Hawaiian guitar in his style of playing the blues. His distinctive strong voice takes the listener to diverse musical directions, from folk to jazz and soul. Thanks to Adrian Krug's blues harmonica, "Flo's" songs soar with an intoxicating trajectory of sound. Put in a nutshell, Flo Kern's talent already qualified him to get on the "Europe Blues Train" and his great CD just happens to be called, "Train Ticket."

8 pm – Charlie Slavík and The Rhythm Girls (blues)

Charlie Slavík, the most respected harmonica player in the Czech Republic, is the only Czechoslovakian to ever participate in the prestigious international blues competition IBC in Memphis in 2013, where he made it all the way up to the semi-finals. His ability to use the instrument across genres illustrates his virtuosity and his ability to play with anyone or as a soloist. The Rhythm Girls - Tereza Nálevková, Radka Říhová, and Karolína Stasiaková - are three charming singers steeped in swing rhythm, accompanied by Czech guitar virtuoso Kuba Červinka.

10 pm – T's Independent Boogie Co (D) (blues)

The name signifies nothing but Trotter's soft spot for the Blues. After spending more than two decades in the UK and Australia honing an illustrious career in various musical genres with all sorts of different artists, a few years ago he returned to his homeland. And the Blues just won't leave him alone: "Once you've caught the bug, you've had it," he says with a smile. "And that's exactly why we started ‘The Independents.’” More like a congregation of individual musicians than a steady band, they sporadically meet to celebrate their passion for the Blues. Julius Seelig – voc; Benny Krise – g; Marc Witte – keys; Markus Kunz – harps; Roger Radatz – dr; Trott – b.

upoutavka_Sexmob_02.jpg

The band came together in 1996 for a weekly residency at the legendary downtown NYC venue The Knitting Factory and in 1998 released its debut album, Din of Inequity. This was followed by 2000's Solid Sender, 2001's Sex Mob Bond, 2003's Dime Grind Palace, 2006's Sexotica, 2009's Sex Mob Meets Medeski: Live in Willisau and 2013's Cinema, Circus & Spaghetti: Sex Mob Plays Fellini. All showcased Bernstein as a remarkable arranger and interpreter, and Sexmob as a group with a distinct style and method, yet one in line with jazz tradition. Bernstein explains: "Covers to me means you play it just like the record. I just take songs that I feel have a great melody and do them in my style. So I'll pick a tune and tell the guys, 'Let's Sexmob this!' And I realize that's what jazz musicians have always done. That's how Lester Young and Charlie Parker and Miles Davis got popular. They played the songs that everyone knew. And because they could recognize the song, then they invited them into their style".

Three Countries – one Language! Chamber Music from Africa, Middle East and Europe.

The music of JMO - Jan Galega Brönnimann (Switzerland), Prince Moussa Cissokho (Senegal) and Omri Hason (Israel) is a reminiscence of the art of storytelling. The trio creates a tension of traditional and modern music from Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The sparkling sound of the Kora (African Harp with 26 strings) meets the warm tone of the Bass Clarinet and oriental percussion.  "Al nge taa" is the first release of the trio. It means "let's move!" in Mandinka, a language spoken in Gambia, Mali and Senegal. The songs are written by the three musicians and reflect their different backgrounds. Listening to   "Al nge taa" is an unforgettable adventure thanks to its merging of different musical traditions, the band’s unique line-up and its wealth of ingenious melodies and rhythms.
