Hailed as "exacting and exciting musicians" by the LA Times, the three sisters of the Ahn Trio (Lucia on the piano, Angella on the violin, and Maria on the cello) have earned a distinguished reputation for embracing 21st century classical music with their unique style and innovative collaborations.  Ahn Trio is excited to announce release of their new album, “Blue” in the spring of 2017.  Says Ahn Trio, Blue is a kind of a musical diary of Ahn Trio’s past and present, celebrating family of musicians, artists and leaders who have inspired us: us hanging out with Prince at Paisley Park, working with Pat Metheny on the piece Yuryung he wrote for us, performing Skylife at the Obama White House.  Meeting incredible women leaders from all around the world at TED Women being invited to perform there, falling in love with Brazil and the bossa nova, exploring new colors with the great jazz musician Nguyen Le from Paris, collaborating with Kenji Bunch and Hyung-ki Joo of Igudesman & Joo, and our message expressed with “Little Wing,” the iconic Jimi Hendrix song arranged by D.D. Jackson, which fit very well into our vision, “She’s walking through the clouds, with a circus mind that’s running wild . . . fly on little wing.” Not only does it sum up how we feel about Blue, but how we feel about our art. May we all fly on.

The Ahn sisters were born in Seoul, Korea, and educated at the Juilliard School in New York City. Reflecting the two cultures they grew up in, the Trio brings a new energy and excitement to the chamber music world. Such luminary composers as Michael Nyman, Maurice Jarre, Pat Metheny, Paul Schoenfield, Mark O' Connor, Kenji Bunch, Nikolai Kapustin, and Paul Chihara have written works for them. The trio's latest CD, “Lullaby for My Favorite Insomniac” (released by Sony) is a showcase of their fearless creativity, which made No. 8 on the Billboard Charts for 26 weeks in the Classical album category.  In two decades of touring, the Trio has performed in all 50 states and in over 30 countries, and has recorded six albums. The first, a recording of Ravel and Villa-Lobos trios brought rave reviews, with Audio Magazine praising "this is one of Ravel's best and never better played". The next EMI recording of trios by Dvorak, Suk, and Shostakovich, won Germany's prestigious ECHO Award.

PAT METHENY  “Their willingness to play new music at such a high level is an inspiring and exciting quality that will continue to define the unique spot that they are carving for themselves in the music world.”

The CD „Autumn Tales“ was released by the Animal Music label at the end of 2016 and has been called “a masterpiece” by the server Lidovky.cz, “timeless tales” by magazine Rock&All and “an unusually delicate album” by the server jazzport.cz. Voilà! is a synonym for a high-quality multi-genre music experience. Swing, twist, chanson, with sometimes with a touch of hip-hop and reggae. It is hard to put this band in any box. Five perfectly coordinated musicians that can move seamlessly from one style to another within one song, complimented by the perfectly mastered singing of Zdenka Trvalcova, giving the songs an unforgettable atmosphere.
Even before the release of their debut album, Voila! received the Český tučňák (Czech Penguin) Award for young promising artists. Thier Debut album Décollage (2014) confirmed that the award was fairly received. Especially the song "Flip Flops", which fought itsway to the top of Czech Radio 1 and Slovak Radio FM charts and has achieved great success within a wide range of dedicated music fans.
The band performs regularly in Czech Republic and Slovakia, while working on songs for their new album.

There will perform also DJ Mackie Messer after main concert.

The Orchestra has had countless successful projects together with the world's leading jazz musicians, including America's symbols of jazz artistry. They have collaborated with saxophonists Bob Mintzer and Dave Liebman, trumpeters Wallace Roney and James Morrison, organ player Rhoda Scott, singers Julian Joseph, Kurt Elling, New York Voices or Harlem Gospel Choir and pianist Mike Garson – just to name a few.

Recently the band had a great opportunity, when the orchestra accepted the invitation by Maestro Ennio Morricone: they played his Lifetime Achievement Tour under his leading in Europe's biggest concert halls.

This year MAO played - besides bit cities in Europe - in New York and Washington, and also had a concert in Tel Aviv.

upoutavka_minus123minut_kveten_2017.jpg

In the fall of 2016, after seven years apart, the legendary band minus123minut honored their reunion with a vast and challenging comeback tour. This tour will continue into the spring, including two performances at the legendary Jazz Dock club, on Friday, May 5th and Saturday, May 6th. Minus123minut (previously written -123min.) was one of the most significant bands on the Czech scene at the turn of the millenium. They were a huge inspriation to many young musicians and very successful despite them being an independent jam band.
The concerts will display a select mixture of the band’s five studio albums in a new disguise. They will also include some new material, and of course improvisation - a more than significant aspect of this band. Always flirting with jazz, rock, world music, soul, and funk, the band’s up-to-date lineup is Zdeněk Bína on guitar and vocals, Fredrik Janáček on the bass, and Dano Šoltis on the drums.

upoutavka_Cohen.jpg

In February 2016, trumpeter Avishai Cohen released and began touring behind his highly anticipated ECM debut, Manfred Eicher produced, Into the Silence to unanimous critical praise. A collection of expansive and impressionistic compositions for jazz quartet (trumpet, piano, bass, drums with tenor saxophone on a few pieces), Into the Silence reflects on the final moments of Avishai’s late father David’s life with a remarkable amount of restraint, grace and humility.

Voted a Rising Star three years running in the DownBeat Critics Poll — Cohen has become globally recognized as a musician with an individual sound and a questing spirit, an ever-creative player-composer open to multiple strains of jazz and active as a leader, co-leader and sideman. The New York Times described him as “An extravagantly skilled trumpeter, relaxed and soulful . . . deftly combining sensitivity and flair,” while The Chicago Reader has deemed him as “arguably the most exciting Israeli Jazz musician in the world.”

Aside from the acclaimed trio work under the moniker Triveni, the trumpeter also records and tours the world as part of the Mark Turner Quartet, and with the 3 Cohens Sextet — the hit family band with his sister, clarinetist-saxophonist Anat, and brother, saxophonist Yuval. Cohen was also a member of the prestigious SFJazz Collective for several years until 2015, twice headlined the hallowed Village Vanguard, Carnegie Hall, and appeared on the cover of the January 2012 issue of DownBeat. Cohen was named as the Artistic Director of the International Jerusalem Festival in 2015.
