Brixiho akademický soubor

The concert of a vocal ensemble whose work spans a wide array of genres from classical and spiritual music through gospel to common music styles.  A successor of a traditional Prague vocal-instrumental group, “Brixiho akademický soubor” (BAS) is now a vocal only, mixed-voice chamber group whose modern history dates back to 1986. Since 2002, the group has performed under conductor Kamil Mandlík. The group has grown to become an original ensemble whose repertoire can simply be described as “the colors of the 20th century”. BAS does not avoid any genres; even contemporary classical music is part of their repertoire. In 2006, in a series of Easter concerts held together with Ensemble des Marionettes, a puppet company, BAS performed pieces by F. Poulenc, V. Nees and A. Tučapský. A reprise of the performance took place in 2015. Other interesting experiments of the ensemble included e.g. several music evenings featuring BAS together with a jazz quartet.
