Hetty Kate Quartet
“A stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice” James Morrison (Australia)
Jazz vocalist Hetty Kate, described as “the real deal” and “one of the best swing vocalists on the current scene” (Will Friedwald - Author & Critic USA), was born in England, raised in Australia, and has been based in France since 2017. Credited with a clear, effortless voice and natural stage presence, Hetty is passionate about the music, and is known for honoring the original whilst always making each performance her own. It’s this rare quality that has seen her invited to perform internationally from New Zealand to New York.
Over the last decade Hetty has featured at premier jazz festivals in Europe, Asia and Australia and continues to tour extensively. Festival highlights include singing for the New York Winter Jazz Festival (USA), Sapporo International Jazz Festival (Japan), Ascona Jazz Festival (Switzerland) and Malta International Jazz Festival. Hetty also toured as the featured vocalist for acclaimed Australian multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, and joined him in Prague for the 2016 Prague Proms with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra at Smetana Hall conducted by Kryštof Marek.
Delighted to be returning to the iconic club, The Jazz Dock, Hetty will be joined by her friends and talented musicians, guitarist Libor Smoldas, Australian double bassist Nick Haywood and American drummer Jesse Simpson. Don’t miss this welcoming, entertaining and masterful evening of rare gems and treasures from both the American songbook and jazz canon.
