JAZZ DOCK ORCHESTRA ft. Nikki Iles

Nikki Iles is a pianist, composer and arranger, and one of the most influential people currently on the UK jazz scene. She is also enjoying great success in Europe, as composer in residence for 2023 with the NDR big band in Hamburg, and composer/arranger for the HR Big Band (Frankfurt) and UMO Jazz Orchestra (Helsinki). Nikki has received multiple awards in the UK, including a recent Parliamentary Jazz Award for best large ensemble with her own big band. She has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists, such as Art Farmer, Rufus Reid, Norma Winstone, and Dave Holland, and was one of the founding members (along with Jazz Dock Orchestra's director Andy Schofield) of the Creative Jazz Orchestra, a unique ensemble in the 90s/2000s, which collaborated with many leading world artists such as Kenny Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Anthony Braxton, Vince Mendoza, and Peter Erskine. Nikki and Andy have remained friends and colleagues, and look forward to collaborating again on this project, playing Nikki's original music with Jazz Dock Orchestra.

The JAZZ DOCK ORCHESTRA has been the flagship of Jazz Dock since the beginning of its successful operation. The orchestra consists of leading players of the Czech and European jazz scenes, and the repertoire includes original compositions, as well as compositions by the world's great composers. Boldly sailing through its fourth year of existence, our resident big band plays at the Jazz Dock every third Monday of the month and has already gained a dedicated audience!
