Jazz Efterrätt

Jazz Efterrätt

Monday 25/08/2025 from 21:00

The band Jazz Efterrätt was founded in 1998 by guitarist Lukáš Chejn. In the beginning, they performed in Prague bars, playing jazz standards mostly in a funk rhythm. A sharp and pulsating groove was what excited and defined the band from the very start. Over the years, Jazz Efterrätt gradually established itself on the Prague jazz club scene. In addition to regularly appearing at jazz festivals – such as Jazz na ulici in Plzeň and the Jazz Festival in Ústí nad Labem – the band also toured across Bohemia and Moravia. Later, the group began rehearsing and performing original compositions, most of which were recorded in 2001 on their debut album "Nakousnuto". In an effort to achieve variety and a multi-genre sound, the album featured guest appearances by vocalists Ridina Ahmed, Rylow Williams, and trumpeter Jan Hasenöhrl. In spring 2006, they released their second album "Festival Is The Best", which – apart from the track Maiden Voyage by Herbie Hancock – consists entirely of original music. Several pieces from this album remain part of the band’s concert repertoire to this day. In 2011, Jazz Efterrätt released their most recent album, "Jazz Efterrätt – 2011", once again featuring original compositions. Musically, Jazz Efterrätt moves between jazz fusion, funk, and groove jazz. Their sound is defined by energy, a strong rhythmic foundation, and a focus on instrumental performance. The band is known for its tight interplay, vibrant live shows, and ability to combine jazz sophistication with accessibility for a broader audience.
