Jazz trumpeter John Marshall (b. New York, 1952) has enriched countless bands since the 1970s: Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Mel Lewis, Dizzy Gillespie, Gerry Mulligan, Mario Bauza, Ornette Coleman, George Coleman, and Benny Goodman, among others—and, from 1992, the world-renowned WDR radio-television big band in Cologne, Germany, where he has just completed his 25-year contract. He appears regularly in New York at Smalls jazz club and other venues.
