An exceptional trio led by Grammy-nominated pianist Jon Cowherd is heading to Jazz Dock. Cowherd, together with drummer Brian Blade, co-founded the legendary Fellowship Band—one of the most influential and inspiring jazz ensembles of the past decades. Cowherd and Blade have been closely connected since their college years, and their long-standing musical symbiosis is deeply reflected in their work.

Jon Cowherd has also collaborated with a wide range of prestigious artists, including Cassandra Wilson, John Scofield, Lizz Wright, Nate Smith, Iggy Pop, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell and Rufus Wainwright. His album Pride and Joy was named by critics at NPR and DownBeat as one of the best releases of 2022. Brian Blade, a four-time Grammy winner, is one of the most important drummers of our time. In addition to the Fellowship Band, he is especially renowned for his long-standing role in the Wayne Shorter Quartet, where he helped create some of the most innovative jazz moments of recent years. He has also collaborated with Herbie Hancock, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, Chick Corea and Joni Mitchell. The trio is completed by the brilliant bassist Tony Scherr, whose versatile and distinctive sound is known from projects with Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Norah Jones, Sex Mob and Maria Schneider. Scherr is one of New York’s most in-demand musicians, and his feel for groove and melody elevates every project into a unique musical space. This concert promises an extraordinary evening of musical sensitivity, virtuosity, and profound interplay between three remarkable voices of the international jazz scene.
