The trio operates in a musical world that combines bitonality, polyrhythm and polymetric. In Norway, Kiap is one of the very few bands that focuses seriously on working with this kind of music and is considered to be an outstanding representative of the new avant-garde. The music is at times energetic and outgoing, drawing inspiration from classical music, rock, jazz, metal, contemporary and American avant-garde jazz. They have performed at major festivals and venues in Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Japan. Kiap recently released their eponymous album Kiap on the Slovakian label Hevhetia. They're going to release the next one in 2018, recorded with guest reed player, Frank Gratkowski. Michal Wróblewski – as; Magnus Jønnum Grimnes – g; Magnus Sefaniassen Eide – dr.
