Czech Radio Jazz Festival 2025
Czech Radio is once again organizing its traditional one-day autumn festival in collaboration with Jazz Dock. The event will be recorded and later broadcast as part of the EBU network. Three outstanding bands will perform throughout the evening.
Kneebody - for nearly two decades, Grammy-nominated Kneebody has forged a genre-defying sound—a fusion of rock energy, chamber ensemble precision, and bold improvisation. In 2025, they embark on a new chapter with "Reach", out April 18 via GroundUP Music. This album, their latest as a quartet—Adam Benjamin (keys), Shane Endsley (trumpet), Ben Wendel (sax), and Nate Wood (bass & drums simultaneously)—pushes genre boundaries while delivering their signature mix of intricate composition and raw energy. The lead single, "Repeat After Me," offers a first taste, weaving Morse code-inspired melodies into shifting harmonies and deep grooves. Over the years, Kneebody has earned critical acclaim, a Grammy nomination, and collaborations with artists like Becca Stevens, Gretchen Parlato, and Daedelus. With Reach, Kneebody signals a new era, bringing their unpredictable energy and masterful interplay to audiences worldwide. Adam Benjamin – keys; Shane Endsley – trp; Ben Wendel – sax; Nate Wood - b & dr.
Prepared - captivating, hypnotic, and highly energetic. A free-spirited Munich-based trio in a chamber music line-up that instinctively awakens dance impulses and guides the listener into a trance-like sound space. Cyclic motifs and intricately layered patterns merge in minimalist yet highly virtuosic compositions, creating a mesmerizing Gesamtkunstwerk. It’s as if Steve Reich, Jonny Greenwood, Nik Bärtsch, and Dawn of Midi had been thrown into a pot. Chris Gall – p; Florian Riedl – bcl; Christoph Holzhauser – dr.
