Lenka Nová will also stop by Jazz Dock in the pre-Christmas season. The evening will offer not only tried-and-tested songs from her repertoire, which have already found their way into listeners’ hearts, but also a taste of her new work. And this time, there’s certainly plenty of it.

Lenka is currently working on two new albums. The first will be strongly author-driven — made up almost entirely of songs she wrote herself. The second project, tentatively titled Nová_Benko_Žáček, is being created in collaboration with the excellent jazz pianist and composer Matěj Benko and will feature musical settings of poems by Jiří Žáček.

“While gathering material for my next solo album, I ended up with so many beautiful songs and ideas in my hands that I wanted to work on several of them at once. At the same time, it was clear they wouldn’t quite work side by side on one album. I didn’t want to force the authors or producers into compromises just so everything would fit onto a single record. So I thought — why not record two albums and try out a different vocal approach again? In today’s digital age, it really doesn’t matter how many songs an album has. What matters is that each one has its own world, where it feels comfortable and can fully unfold.”

The concert on December 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Prague’s Jazz Dock will therefore be an opportunity to hear Lenka Nová as her audience knows her, while also getting a glimpse of where her work is heading right now. In the intimate atmosphere of Jazz Dock, where performer and audience are close to one another, familiar songs will be heard alongside brand-new ones — even before they appear on the upcoming albums.

An Advent evening without carols and without obligatory sentimentality. Instead, with songs, stories, humor, and a touch of December reflection.
