Luboš Soukup Earth Quintet ft. Christian Pabst
The name Earth Quintet refers to one of the most acclaimed albums by saxophonist and composer Luboš Soukup – Země (Earth), released in 2016 on the Animal Music label. The album was created in collaboration with his modern jazz quartet and a special guest – guitarist and vocalist Lionel Loueke, long-time musical partner of Herbie Hancock. Soukup’s compositions are sophisticated yet melodic and rhythmically accessible to a wide audience. The music blends elements of jazz, ethnic and classical traditions, forming a distinctive and emotionally rich sound world.
The band frequently performed the Země repertoire in the past, but in recent years Luboš Soukup has focused on other projects – making this concert a rare opportunity to hear this music live once again. Joining Luboš Soukup will be his long-time musical partner Christian Pabst, travelling to the Czech Republic from his current base in Italy especially for this occasion. The evening will be both a tribute to the album Země and a gathering of leading jazz personalities of the European scene:
Luboš Soukup – saxophones, clarinet · Christian Pabst – piano · David Dorůžka – guitar · Jaromír Honzák – double bass · Marek Urbánek – drums.
