Machina Mundi (DNK/CZ)
Mechanical pieces of music that create an etherical, harmonical universe. After releasing the album Zeme (feat. Lionel Loueke), Luboš Soukup decided to put together a brand-new Scandinavian jazz quartet with a focus on creating a new harmonic and rhythmic universe: Machina Mundi. Machina Mundi draws musical inspiration from the legendary band Weather Report (the use of different types of synthesizers, keyboards and various effects), but also Chris Potter’s Underground project. The compositions written by Luboš Soukup are elegant and challenging, but well-accepted by the audience because of their "feel good-grooves", melodic lines, and exciting solos. A unique harmonic universe invites listeners to imagine a dark Scandinavian sky at one moment; and when the pulsating rhythms appear, the listener’s imagination experiences the busy streets of New York.
