Marie Puttnerová with band
"Laila tov"

Wednesday 10/09/2025 from 21:00

Singer Marie Puttnerová, active on the Czech music scene through her original collaborations with Jablkoň, Půljabkoň, and Zvíře jménem Podzim, joined forces with Martin Novák (Robert Křesťan & Druhá tráva, Lanugo, Blue Shadows, Jaromír Honzák Quintet, David Dorůžka Trio) to create a shared musical world. This world is shaped not only by Puttnerová’s original songs but also by fragments of set-to-music poetry from the fragile Jan Zahradníček and the surrealist Vlastimil Třešňák. After inviting the Opava-based guitar magician Petr Uvira (Ladě, Heimat, Jitka Šuranská, Vladivojna La Chia) to collaborate, a unique symbiosis of human voices and electric guitars was born, one that compellingly and urgently pushed the imaginary boundaries of folk music. In 2022, a pivotal connection was made with British producer Eddie Stevens (Druhá tráva, Jana Kirschner, Róisín Murphy, Moloko), which led to the release of Puttnerová’s debut album Laila tov on April 28, 2023. The trio’s original sound truly evolved through this collaboration, and the band has since expanded to include a fourth member – composer, pianist, and synthesizer player Martin Brunner (Martin Brunner Trio, The Prague Six, Markéta Foukalová, Klara & The Pop). With Laila tov, Marie Puttnerová was awarded Album of the Year 2023 in the annual poll organized by the editorial board of Radio Proglas. The poll included 110 invited figures – journalists, musicians, concert and festival organizers, promoters, and selected representatives of the station's listeners.
