Ondřej Konrád & Gumbo

Ondřej Konrád & Gumbo

Tuesday 16/04/2024 from 21:00

After a long break, Ondřej Konrád & Gumbo, formed at the turn of the 90s and noughties, return to Jazz Dock, where they were long-time regulars on the program. Apart from domestic stages, the band has performed across Europe and presented its work with the album At Least One Beauty of the World (2006). The current line-up is composed of original members, guitarist Josef Štěpánek and bassist Dan Eberle, alongside harmonica player and vocalist Ondřej Konrád, and newcomers Jan Steinsdörfer on keyboards and drummer Miloš Dvořáček, who was also briefly a member of Gumbo's early days.

After many years in Luboš Andršt's Blues Band with Petr Lipa, The Binder-Konrád Blues Band, and the funky mini-big band Šavle meče, one path of the musical journey of harmonica player and vocalist Ondřej Konrád was forged. The second path came through numerous collaborations with many leading Czech musicians and bands, such as Jazz Q, Prague Choice, Dežo Ursíny and Wanastovi Vjecy. He is also a member of the folk-rock band Blues Session. The two paths come together in the band Gumbo, named after the hearty soup of New Orleans cuisine: a thick soup made of various types of meats, sausages and vegetables, with a specific aroma of local herbs, appropriately spicy. Prague's Musical Gumbo incorporates into its mix blues, jazz, funk, rock, fusion, alternative country and more.
