Petr Beneš Trio
Jazz pianist and composer Petr Beneš founded his band in 2013, realizing a vision that had been taking shape since his composition Waiting for Art won the award for Best Jazz Composition of 2011 in an OSA competition held in cooperation with Bohemia Jazzfest. The band’s repertoire consists exclusively of original compositions and draws on the finest traditions of modern jazz. His trio or quartet can be seen regularly in Prague jazz clubs and at festivals (Bohemia Jazzfest, BMC Budapest, Czech Jazz Weekend). The band has recorded two CDs: the debut album PBQ+1 (2015) and On The Way Up (2019), which is essentially the outcome of Beneš’s master’s studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU).
