Roman Pokorný Crossover Quartet
One of the finest Czech guitarists, Roman Pokorný, will present himself this time in a different light – with a project leaning more towards modern jazz and fusion. His energetic music, rooted in jazz mainstream with strong blues influences, evokes the spirit of hard-bop and soul-jazz, styles most popular in the 1950s and 1960s, yet still full of charm and vitality today. His sound and aesthetics draw inspiration from the legendary recordings of George Benson, Kenny Burrell, and Grant Green, while also reflecting his own rich career. Pokorný has released nine albums to date, including Brooklyn Session recorded in New York, as well as Cab To Cotton Club (2018), dedicated to the music of Duke Ellington. With this new fusion-oriented program, he blends tradition with modern energy and virtuosity, confirming his place among the very best of the Czech jazz scene.
