Štěpánka Balcarová & Małgorzata Hutek Quartet (CZ/PL)
Zuzanna
The new Czech–Polish quartet led by trumpeter and composer Štěpánka Balcarová follows her previous successful projects inspired by Polish poetry, in particular the albums Life and Happiness of Julian Tuwim (2017) and the orchestral Štěstí (2022). The current project, Zuzanna, sets to music poems by the Polish Jewish poet Zuzanna Ginczanka (1917–1944), whose work is marked by extraordinary sensitivity, irony, and a profound reflection of her time. Alongside Štěpánka Balcarová and the acclaimed Polish vocalist Małgorzata Hutek, the quartet features double bassist Jaromír Honzák and guitarist David Dorůžka—prominent figures of the Czech jazz scene who frequently collaborate with Polish musicians in their own projects as well.
Małgorzata Hutek - vocal; Štěpánka Balcarová - trumpet; David Dorůžka - guitar; Jaromír Honzák - double bass.
