Pavel Wlosok Quartet – New CD Release
The unique sound of the Pavel Wlosok Quintet is an intoxicating blend of jazz traditions including swing, modal, and Latin jazz, along with influences of contemporary twentieth-century music, World music, and Czech folk music. Most of the repertoire is based on original compositions, exciting new arrangements of jazz standards, as well as personal takes on traditional styles of modern jazz ranging from the pre-swing era, through swing, be-bop and cool, to modal and beyond. The Czech-born American pianist, award-winning composer and arranger, educator, music engineer, producer and photographer Pavel Wlosok, along with top jazz performers Bernhard Wiesinger (saxophones), Russ Spiegel (guitar), Jaromír Honzák (bass) and Jiří Slavíček (drums), invite you to an evening of pure, improvised modern Jazz music, full of exciting musical colors, various rhythmic feels and grooves, and spontaneous collective improvisation.

Personnel: Bob Sheppard (soprano/tenor saxophone), Ed Soph (drums), Zack Page (ac. bass), Pavel Wlosok (piano, compositions/arrangements) and special guest Chris Beyt (guitar, tracks 5, 6, 7).“The music included in this studio album was recorded in April 2019 at the Center For Applied Technology on campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC by Jim Elenteny and mixed to analog tape and mastered digitally by Pavel Wlosok at SonicADventures studios. The eights tracks feature primarily Pavel’s newer original compositions including “Remembering Greece”, “Feel the Love”, “A touch of Bebop”, “Broken Promise Blues” as well as original arrangements of well-known traditional “Amazing Grace Revisited” and Keith Jarrett’’s beautiful ballad “Prism”. Included in the song selection is an original song by guest guitarist Chris Beyt’s entitled “Reaction Shot” and Pavel’s personal “Intimate Confessions”, which he dedicated to his wife Andrea.
