Tommy Castro & The Painkillers (USA)
The Blues Alive 2027 concert series
A ten-time Blues Music Award winner, including four B.B. King Entertainer of the Year awards – the highest honor for a live performer in the blues world – is coming to Prague’s Jazz Dock!
Guitarist, singer, and bandleader Tommy Castro has been one of the leading figures in American blues for over four decades. His music blends electric blues, raw rock'n'roll, soul, and funk, shaped by the influences of such legends as Albert King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, and Taj Mahal. With 17 albums to his name, a long-standing association with the prestigious Alligator Records label, and a reputation as one of today's finest live blues performers, Castro remains a force to be reckoned with. Together with his band, The Painkillers, he plays around 150 shows a year, delivering performances renowned for their electrifying energy, outstanding guitar work, and soulful vocals. As Joe Bonamassa puts it: “Tommy has always been top of the heap among blues guitar players. He always puts on a great show.”
