This Quartet is an ensemble of extraordinary virtuosity with different musical and cultural backgrounds, exploring ever-widening musical horizons and seeking to find a collective identity. Vienna-based violinist Efe Turumtay is accompanied by Tomáš Liška’s dazzling bass lines, András Dés’s moving rhythms and the melancholic tunes of Turkish fretless guitar virtuoso Cenk Erdogan. The quartet defines what it is to be a performer and composer ensemble, consistently proving itself to be an essential voice in world music scene today. The original compositions of Turumtay, Liška, Dés and Erdogan open up to the audience a passageway between seemingly disparate worlds and reminds us that great music is international.
